Why can’t I stop picking my skin

Obsessive skin picking is a syndrome, or more like a a condition that almost every person can suffer from at some point of their lives. It is quite normal for all of us to actually carry out it to some degree, but when it becomes compulsory, it is a problem. There are many ways that I have used in order to stop picking my skin and some of them have actually been quite helpful, and some of them have not. Usually they are similar to systems that are designed to help people get rid of obsessive behaviour.

There are different types of medications that have been suggested to me to help me stop picking my skin but I think that because it is a condition like this, I can get rid of it myself. Medication like that is most likely going to mess up with your other thoughts as well, and by correct self therapy I can achieve much better results – and have.

There is some suggestion from the most recent studies that the amount you are picking your skin is quite vlosely related to the amount of stress you are facing in your life and my own observations point to the same direction. If I am working a lot and spending all my free time on other stressful projects, I seem to end up picking my skin, my fingernails and my cuticles until they bleed. This is actually quite embarrassing since I have to work at a place where my hands are shown to the customers all the time, and if I don’t have the time to get a band-aid on my cuticles after I pick my skin until it bleeds, it can be quite a bloody mess. Also what this leaves me is that I have to be in contact with the customers from time to time, and when I have picked my skin it makes me more prone to get illnesses. I am constantly afraid that I am going to catch something serious because my skin is all the time exposed to the bacteria.
